Animal Supply House was established in 1992. It is owned by Mark Dixon and Sam Wullner. There are currently 12 retail locations in the Carolinas. They are serviced by 15,000 sq. ft. distribution center and headquarters, centrally located in Columbia, SC.

Animal Supply offers exclusive product lines, closed distribution, and protected markets. We offer support and training to all locations. We have an established franchise service system to follow up and maintain a consistent level of service in all of our stores.

With Animal Supply House you will find that you will be able to enjoy all of the perks of large retail chains without the expense.

There was no intention to franchise the original Animal Supply House. With the growth of the original store, interest pursued. Prospective retailers loved the concept and showed strong interest in franchising. With much insistence, we decided to allow select qualified retailers to join the Animal Supply House family. As we have grown, we've held true to our mission: Quality Product at a Great Price.

Single unit franchisees must be active owner/operators. Retail experience is helpful, but not essential, because Animal Supply House has a comprehensive training and support program. You can rely on our support team to help setup merchandising and inventory schedules. Put our experience to work for you. We want to work closely with you to ensure the success of all of our stores.

Potential franchisees must demonstrate that they have sufficient capital to operate and develop their stores. While Animal Supply House does not offer financing, we are confident that sources for financing are available for qualified applicants. It is estimated that you will need in excess of $35,000 in liquid capital in order to receive financing for the remainder of the total investment.

Animal Supply House seeks to locate stores in highly visible, busy locations. We try limiting the size of our stores to 5,000 to 10,000 square feet. This is to ensure that operating costs and inventory are kept at optimum levels of profitability. With this size you can offer a competitive selection of products. Thanks to our state-of-the-art distribution system, our franchises receive regular shipments to keep the shelves full and back stock at a minimum.

Things you need to know ...

Store Layout - If you desire, our support team can assist in the setup and design of your floor plan. Our experience and knowledge of the inventory will be instrumental in the success of your store.

Training - We provide hands-on management training on location and at our headquarters. You will be responsible for transportation and expenses for meals and lodging for persons attending training sessions.

Franchisee Service Program - We provide regular visit to locations to answer questions and offer assistance to improve sales and profitability.

Buying Power - Animal Supply House has established strong relationships with suppliers to the industry. We offer competitively priced merchandise. You will benefit from our buying power and experience. Initial inventory is expected to range from approximately $75,000 to $150,000 depending on the store size.

Advertising - You must spend a minimum of $4,000 on Grand Opening Advertising during the first month of operation of the Franchised Business. This includes mailing to customers on purchased mailing lists. This cost may increase depending on your local market.

Signage - Signage includes interior and exterior signs that bear the official Animal Supply Logo. The cost may vary depending on the type, size and location of the signs. Signs may be affected by local restrictions. Generally, signs should be backlit and as large as possible.

Property/Fixtures - You must provide a location upon which to operate your business that is deemed suitable to run a profitable business. It is the responsibility of the franchisee to secure property, pay security deposits, and purchase store fixtures as we will not assist in financing this expenditure. Additional office machinery outside of the point-of-sale system may need to be obtained by the franchisee.

Initial Franchise Fee - The initial franchise fee is explained in greater detail in the chart following this section. The initial franchise fee is used to defray the costs of training, promotional assistance, materials and other services to be provided by us.
